S.V. GOPALEN (SVG), FOUNDER, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR.
A Mechanical Engineer, graduated in 1964 from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India.
SVG Worked as a Manufacturing Engineer in Enfield India Chennai from 1964-1972
In 1967 SVG founded a small firm with a few friends to manufacture Epoxy and Fiberglass High Voltage insulation to service the growing transformer and switchgear industries in India.
In 1972 SVG headed the technology development of this firm and made it a pioneer in HV Insulation manufacturing in India with several import substitutions.
In 1982 SVG along with Dr. T. V. Sridhar (TVS), developed a 33kV 300A On-load Tap Changer in just 45 days (Oct 2nd to Nov 14th) and tested it successfully.
SVG formed Onload Gears in 1983 along with a few friends.
SVG’s innovative and visionary ideas, hard work, team-building skills and determination formed the base for ‘On Load Gears”.
ON LOAD GEARS with the brand name OLG became synonymous with OLTC.
In 1990 SVG and TVS developed 12kV, 1250A VCB (vacuum circuit breaker) and 132 kV In-tank OLTC.
SVG took OLG’s Markets to North America and Brazil.
SVG combines extensive experience in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
SVG started ‘Make in India’ in 1973 and firmly believed in indigenous and appropriate technology.

Equipped with an advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, USA, An Executive Leadership Program from the Centre for Creative Leadership, USA, and A Senior Leadership Program from the Indian Institute of Management and All India Management Association, Mr. Rao Comes with Varied Experience.
PH Rao worked as a President in Crompton Greaves Ltd, under his guidance and leadership received India’s First ISO 9001 Certification for Marketing Operations and an ISO 14001 Certification for a Lamp manufacturing unit.
Also, PH Rao was instrumental in setting up two International Joint Ventures for Crompton Greaves Ltd. The First JV was CG-Igarashi Motors Limited (CGIML) a Manufacturer of DC motors in collaboration with Igarashi Electric Works Ltd (IEWL), Japan, and the second was the International Components India Ltd (ICIL), a Manufacturer of electronic components for telecom & automobile industries in collaboration with USA & Japan-based companies.
PH Rao worked as a Managing Director at Sky-cell Communications Ltd and as a Chief Executive Officer at Bharathi Televentures Ltd (Airtel, Southern Region, India).
PH Rao, a Harvard Business School Alumnus brings with him over 4 decades of Corporate experience having held very Senior Positions in the above leading Companies joined Onload Gears Private Limited in 2022 as Chairman and Managing Director.
PH Rao has been taking steps to corporatize the company, to meet the growing business needs of the Global market, to grow OLGPL into a world-class organization by taking it to the next greater height, and to set a benchmark to become a 500Crores company.
